K2 Drive Axle Hub Cover Mount

New to us '07 Essex had one drive axle hub cover off when we bought it. Dealer had a local shop put it back on. 40 miles down the road it flew off but at least we were able to retrieve it.

To avoid another round of the catch & release game, is there a recommended type / brand of bracket that keeps these things in place? What we have now is just a hose clamp around the hub holding 4 aluminum 'springs' that are supposed to grip the hub cover. Obviously not the best approach...

That's the old system like I had on our '07 Allegro Bus/Spartan. I lost a few of them. Carefully bending the fingers to create more tension helped, but not always. In later years Spartan upgraded to a new design which uses a threaded center emblem to hold the cap on. That is a much better system. I upgraded our '07 to the new style (it comes as a kit from Spartan parts department) and had no more problems. I also upgraded the steer tires as well once I lost one of those.

This makes me glad mine silde into the outer dual from the back-side. Impossible to lose.

Turns out that Spartan no longer stocks these "low volume" parts and has sold them off to Vintage Parts. P/N is RW7719-2924G BUT is specific to the rear axle type. So call Spartan first with your VIN info to verify.

Kit includes 2 hub covers, mounting kit, center threaded emblem and special tool for tightening & removal. Less than $200 with shipping.

Another expensive RV lesson....
