K3 Hi Beam Indicator Light Illuminated

I have a 2018 Newmar Mountain Aire on a Spartan K3 chassis. The other day I noticed the high beam indicator light illuminated on the dash, but it wouldn’t turn off by activating/deactivating the high beam. I figured maybe the indication was telling me that I had a burnt bulb. I checked and found several burned out bulbs (low beam, running light, and fog light). I replaced each bulb but the high beam indication light still intermittently lights up.

I check the documentation for the dash indication lights and it appears to be based on a 12V input on one of the input connectors. Not sure if this is driven by the Spartan Control Module (SCM) or some other means.

First questions is whether this high beam indication has any smarts built into it such that it’s trying to tell me something that I haven’t yet determined.

I’ve found that the light is on intermittently. Yesterday after arriving at the CG and being parked for several hours, I noticed that the headlight indication was on. The key was in the off position. In addition to the high beam indication being lit up, the instrument panel was display the total engine hours and odometer. I check later in the evening and it was no longer lit up.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The power for the high beams comes through the spartan control module. Would need to connect a laptop to the ECM to see what is causing the signal to turn on. Do you have a spartan dealer near you? You could contact them. If not, NIRVC is a spartan dealer and could assist you with this issue at any of their locations. Reach out to any service department for further assistance with this issue. Have you checked your battery connection on the chassis batteries? When the light is illuminated, are the high beams actually on?

Battery connection is good. The high beam headlights do not come on when the light is illuminated, thus my thought is that it may be the SCM trying to tell me something (ie. a bulb is out), but there doesn't seem to be any consistency as to when it cuts on/off.

I'm currently on a cross country trip, so it looks like it will have to wait a few months. It doesn't seem to be causing an issue (at this time).

Try to make most trips during the daytime and you should be ok until you get it checked out. It does sound like the spartan control module.
