Need a radiator

Does anyone here know who makes the radiators for Spartan? I need one for my 06 Mountain Aire which is on a 05 chassis. Newmar is 6-8 weeks out. Thanks for the help!

I'd remove the old one and see if a radiator shop can repair it. If not, while it's out it can be measured and a replacement found.

If it hasn't already leaked all out, be prepared for about 12 gals of coolant, gotta catch it in something. I went to Advanced auto and bought a 26qt oil drain container.

Find a big truck radiator shop such as
http://www.motorcityreman.com/radiators.html

Much cheaper than from Newmar. Same thing...

Any big radiator shop should be able to repair or find a replacement. I had 1 removed on New Years day by a mobil truck repair guy and he had it back and in 2 days later.
I also had 1 replaced in a truck repair shop. When I said no way was I paying that price, for a new one, he found a rebuilt unit for about a 40% savings.

We were in Alaska and DS owner needed a radiator and Spartan only had radiators with CAC attached they would sell. He found in Fairbanks a truck radiator shop that built him one in two days for 2K$ which was a lot less then Spartan would have sold him just the radiator only.

Call Spartan and give them your chassis serial number and ask for the radiator cross reference number, with that number in hand you can shop for an aftermarket radiator. Almost all radiators used by spartan are also used by other heavy duty truck manufacturers.

The radiator for my 02 DSDP 4097 has a cross reference number of Baleo 1003190 or Volvo 239380 and fits Volvo WG series from late 1980's to mid 90's.

Any radiator you buy direct from spartan is going to be a plastic tank/aluminum core unit, if you want a copper/brass or all aluminum you'll have to buy aftermarket.

We have owned 3 Newmar's in the last 21 years and have looked at couple hundred other Newmar's and have never seen a plastic tanked radiator with side radiator. Because they at a stacked unit with the CAC on top bolted to radiator plastic couldn't hold up. Or 04 Essex also had the AC cond. bolted to the bottom of radiator. Rear radiators on Ventana's with FL chassis would have plastic radiators and many also have plastic coolant tanks which after 4 to 5 years start leaking.

Side radiator on mine is a big sandwich, rad/cac/trans cooler, not stacked one atop the other. Spartan parts guy said if I order from them it will be a plastic tank/aluminum core radiator @ $1200+. That's what is in mine now, it's the original.

We are working on our third radiator. All failures due to rocks. The first replacement I found new on the internet strictly based on the measurements of the original. Not a bad way to go as it only took a few days to get it. Cost in the $800 range. Sorry to say I can't remember the name of the company. Second was a roadside repair performed in about a day for about $100 by a local radiator shop. Fast and pretty good way to go considering the price. Probably the best bet if you are in a hurry. They guaranteed their work for 6 months. Last was a re-core by a local radiator shop. Added features to make it less prone to rock damage. Took about a week and $1500. All had plastic tanks and all had copper core. I guess I would have to say that the radiator is the least of the worries on the side mounted radiator. The is a lot to dismantle and reassemble not to mention heavy awkward parts to handle.

I replaced the radiator on my previous Mountain Aire and it had a plastic tank, copper core radiator. After checking around, found out it was the same as a Volvo Truck. $ 800 for the radiator, a few hours of cheap labor (me) and it was back together. Oh, I used a plastic storage container to drain the antifreeze into.
