I didn't use the spanner tool. Welded a nut into the joint and ran it out with a impact. Yes you can do it safely and many here have done it w/o the spanner wrench.

Check out this thread, lots of info here, my job starts on post # 58

I was just talking to Jeff at Spartan and he mentioned that Reyco-Granning will lend you a tool, they charge for shipping and put a hold on you CC.
Doesn't help me in Canada, but thought I would pass the info on.

Newmar 1998 3865; Spartan chassis
Recent engine service tech said ball joint needs replacement
Spartan, bought out by holding company
Newmar bought out by Winnebago
Service company sez ball joint manufacturer Reyco/Granning part number on the upper ball joint K705382

"has a supply chain issue and part may not be available until September" (2021)
My service agent noted that the Midland Texas manufacturer contact was abusive and hostile...
So I have only a static display until, and if, I can get a part

Richard, go back to post #6 in this thread and read the info I posted. I list both the kit numbers that include the nut and cotter pin (that's the kit number you posted) and also the number for the joints alone (without nut and cotter pin..which is much cheaper for the upper you listed by the way). Anyway, contact stengelbros.net....according to their site they have them in stock. They are a large Reyco Granning dealer and great to deal with. Your front suspension is a Reyco Granning IFS 1200 supplied to Spartan. Good Luck

Clean threads in spindle with a wire brush. Joint will hand thread all the way in. They are very fine threads.
I put lots red loctite thread lock on joint threads, then using a big punch and hammer tighten as far as I could. Only able to move them about 1/4" inch hitting it hard as I could with a bfh.

Scroll up here and click on the other thread link, post #58

The joints have been in for 5k or so miles

Also in the thread link above is how to safely install grease fittings into your new ball joints.

It appears that one day soon the parts may not be available, so be best to get ahead of it and make them last.

PDF file list for front axle.

I know this thread is older, but new information is always good.
While researching again this year to find what parts I needed as last year everything was backordered nationally I was searching the individual part numbers mentioned instead of the kit and I came across this PDF uploaded to the Canadian Reyco Granning site just in January. It has all the parts listed and although it is for the 1000 IFS unit the parts are the same. It also shows the very inexpensive part numbers for the nut and cotter pin.

https://cdn.reycogranning.com/upload...41/D712230.pdf

Here is a sample of what is in this pdf.

IFS1000-WF Steering Knuckle Components
ITEM PART NO DESCRIPTION
1
2
8745 ASY STEER KNUCKLE 12K (DUC) LH
2
1,2 8744 ASY STEER KNUCKLE 12K (DUC) RH
3 705382-01 UPPER BALL JOINT
4 705382-02 SN M22 X 1.5
5 705382-03 COTTER PIN 5/32 X 1.40 ZN
6 705383-01 LOWER BALL JOINT
7 705383-02 SN M30X 1.5
8 705383-03 COTTER PIN 1/4 X 1.95 ZN
9 7328 ABS SENSOR (STRAIGHT WITH LEAD)
10 705011-27 SLEEVE ABS MOUNTING
11 6946 ABS SENSOR SPRING RETAINER
1
Left hand components shown exploded. Item 2 is a right hand component.
2
Items 1 & 2 are assemblies containing items 3 & 6.

What is interesting is that all though it is listed as the IFS1000WF the break down shows 12 K knuckles.

I will do the hub seals and probably bearings while at, need to determine if they are the same.

Better link for Service Manual for our actual models

Just found this searching the knuckle part number on the web.
Yes I am an IT guy and good at this stuff.

So this is a Service manual for our front end's I believe.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Download it for safe keeping.

Can't respond to DaveL or Mack's post as they are too old.

Just in the middle of doing this.
What oil goes in the hub? You would think they might mention that in the manual

Haploid gear oil. Viscosity slightly dependent on ambient temperatures, but many take 85-90. Go with synthetic, as one quart will do several fills.

Thanks, I guess I was getting tired.
It does say in the instructions 1/2 pint of 90W.
I guess I was getting tired because that was above the part about filling to sight glass, which is the only part I noticed.

Stengel Bros. Inc

I just thought would post that I ended up getting the parts from Stengel Bros.

https://www.stengelbros.net/INDEX.HTML

They had the best prices and took care of me when Reyco-Granning were delaying my order and Jack got it out to me in time.

I highly recommend them.
