I haven't, was hoping to buy new but if the tanks are very specific to the chassis then I suppose I will try there, thanks.

Can I ask why you want to replace the tanks? Can I assume you've contacted Spartan? I wouldn't think that air tanks changed much over the years, in the early days anyway, but I could be wrong.

Frankly those don't look that bad, but I guess you could always have them sonic checked if you're concerned about it. That said, I'm betting those are pretty much stock tanks from someone. I looked up "vehicle air tanks" quickly and got some interesting hits. I'm thinking you're going to find this is something you get from a truck supplier not necessarily an RV supplier. You might also check with Bontrager's RV Surplus in White Pigeon, Michigan they have lots of surplus RV parts. Good luck.

Perhaps the following site can help. Spartan should be able to give you specs of your tanks.
Air Brake Tanks Suppliers & Manufacturers | NewTruckSpring.com
Stay safe!
Cheers

IMO the only valid reason for replacement is water was allowed into the tanks and they rusted through. I see in your pictures the tanks have automatic water drains, are they working? How often do you open the manual drain petcocks to check for water? If that happened water also got into the air brakes, which can be an expensive repair job.
The only way for water to enter the tanks is neglect of the air coalescing filter maintenance recommendations.

Hey Ray, one tank had the auto ejector, the other tank did not. And when I went to drain water, a lot came out. Also my air pressure sender was pretty rusty on that tank. Also the decident on the air dryer looked like it was not replaced in a long time.

SocalID, that sounds like you have your work cut out for you. That much water will cause major problems. I would begin with replacing the entire air dryer assy., then manually draining all air lines, you've already drained the tanks. Check the air lines to the brake canisters for moisture, hopefully water did not get that far.
I would stop at NAPA and buy air line water remover - use as directed.
Attach a small cable to that manual drain and pull it prior to each trip/daily. If it is a radator-type drain a cable will not work, you'll have to do it as you did.
It will be best to install a new automatic water drain to replace the manual drain.
Exercise caution when underneath the MH, men have been killed under a MH.

Looks like some TLC would be in need under that RV. Sandblast and paint. A day will do wonders. Pretty intense for a casual DIY'r. You might look for truck restoration business to do it for you. Or rent the right equipment (and protective clothing) and get busy!

Thanks for the advice Ray. I already replaced the entire air dryer assembly which came with a new filter; the purge valve was leaking air previously! I am going to look at the air line water remover, never heard of that before...sounds like a good tool

I have a new angle grinder with a wire brush/cup attachment, going to try that first. I have sanded and painted the bottom of t 34' boat before so I am hoping this job would be much simpler than that!

Years ago we used to put airline antifreeze in the air tanks as soon as it started getting cold here in the northland. After the ABS systems came out it was a no no as it would eat up the ABS valving. I haven't heard of an air line dryer but if there is such a thing, not the alcohol type antifreeze, then be sure to check the compatibility.
