Small storage box on front drivers side

I think that this is the right forum for this. I have a 1998 American eagle 40evs, and just discovered the whole compartment on the drivers side in front of the axle was wet. I had a small plastic tub that was half full of water. It's clean water which made me believe that it's from a recent rain storm that we drove through. My question is where is it getting in at? Does anyone have the same year or similar coach that has had this happen and if so, what should I look for? Obviously needs sealant somewhere, just don't know where.

Thanks Gary

Are you certain door was latched good? I take and push my knee into door a little, hold open latch and push close tight. If I just slam it down, it doesn't latch tight....and I've gotten water in mine

I guess that's possible..something to check out. The carpet pad in the top of the compartment was wet and is now coming down. I'm leaving it open while I'm parked to get it completely dry. Thanks for the information..Gary

I had a similar problem with my coach --- it ended up that the driver's side mirror had lost its seal and water was coming in through the broke seal where the mirror was attached to the outside body. I resealed the mirror and the problem was solved. The water was coming in around the mirror and then going down the control cable which ran through that compartment --- was dropping of the cable into the compartment ---- drove me wild until I just happened to stumble on the issue. Don't know if this is your problem or not but worth the check.

I battled that wet compartment for several months. My final solution was to run over every outside seam I could find with silicone caulk, fingered in. When I had reached all I could reach, I got a can of spray-on undercoat and went over all the outside seams. The spray could reach some areas I could not reach with a finger. BEFORE you start spraying that stuff, mask off anything you don't want to overspray, like tires, shiny chrome wheels, and the side of the coach. If you do make a mess, personal experience let me know that WD40 will clean the stuff up.

Dave & I have very similar coaches, but totally different side mirror setup.

Hey Paul, k0abi here..fellow ham! Thanks for the reply. I figured it was going to take the extreme that you went to for solving the problem. After it getting so wet and drying after the recent rain, I figured it was getting in while driving. That's on my list when I get to Tucson for the winter. Guess I will just park if it starts to rain on the way. 73's and thanks Gary
