Spartan Driver Assistance Technologies

Spartan’s offered its Advanced Protection System (APS) for several years.

Have owners found this technology useful?

Some key features are:
• Collision Mitigation with Adaptive Cruise Control alerts the driver of potentially dangerous driving scenarios and adjusts speed to maintain a safe following distance.

• Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) displays tire pressure and temperature for individual tires. The system will alert the driver if any tire pressure or temperature
exceeds set thresholds. The system is expandable to monitor towed vehicles as well.

• Lane Departure Warning (LDW) with sign and pedestrian recognition warns the driver with visual and audible alerts. The system will alert the driver in real time, so necessary corrections can be made.

I don't have one, but I imagine it would be useful. I do like the adaptive cruise in the new Sentra we have. Though, I don't really care for lane departure, especially on side roads. It can be quite annoying. And TPMS is a pretty standard desire with an RV IMHO.

TPMS definitely, I feel that's a standard 'must have' item, and is the display I constantly have up on our Spartan digital dash when travelling.

Collision Avoidance and Lane Departure I specifically did not want in our Dutch Star. I have those features in my car and despise them, and have turned them off. In my opinion, those types of features either make you lazy - "Oh, I can send this text because my 52,000 coach will tell me when I'm going to hit someone." or you just constantly ignore the bells and lights anyway.

I'd much rather have more useful features like factory steering wheel controls for the stereo, and 'car like' cruise control features where I can adjust my speed up\down through buttons, etc. "Creature Comforts" for the driver who is 100% paying attention to the road.

Spartan driver assistance

I have all three of those features. They are all convenient and useful; however, some getting use to needed in the beginning.

I have to disagree in the thinking that not having those features will make people pay more attention to their driving.

I like those feature even though the lane departure in our car is annoying most of the time, they do not keep me from paying more or less attention to my surroundings.

Being so much higher up in the rv, I see both old and newer cars both with and without technology and it's quite rare to not seeing someone without a phone in their hands. It's sad actually.
