Turn signal - Audible sounds

Just bought a 2000 Dutch Star on Spartan chassis. When the turn signals are on, or the hazards, they chirp when they're on. It's very annoying. Does anyone know how to disable the chirping sound?

It is your turn signal flasher which can be replaced with a non-sounding flasher.

Funny, on my former coach and now my current coach, there is no sound from the turn signal/flashers and I wish there was. My turn signal dash light is partially obscured by the steering wheel, and I cannot always tell if the signal is ON when I want it, or has clicked OFF when the turn/lane change has been completed. An audible sound would be very helpful for me.

Welcome to the forum, Pusher24!

Like Larry, I clicked on this thread because I expected he complaint would be NOT being able to hear any audible signal that the turns/flashers were on! That is a very common complaint. In many cases, like on my Winnebago w/Spartan chassis, the flasher module is in the electrical bay under the driver seat. The typical "tick, tick" flasher cannot be heard in the cockpit. Or on a gas coach the module is buried under the dash and cannot be heard over the engine.

THIS IS FOR LARRY: I bought a piezo buzzer, put long leads on it,. (they don't "buzz" but actually "beep". I pulled the flasher module and re-installed it with the buzzer leads under the module prongs, then fed the buzzer up through a wire-way to lay under the dash near the driver's feet. (If it doesn't make a sound, reverse the two wires). I first had a 76db buzzer, and now have an 85db. I have put 85db buzzers under the dash on gas coaches for friends.

I have to ask Pusher24 … I am curious, do you have silent turn signals/flashers on your cars?

The turn signals on my cars are not loud chirps, but rather soft clicks...on my Sierra, Honda, and Suburban. Thus why I inquired about the motor home, otherwise i wouldn't have asked for meaningful input.

Thank you to those of you who furthered my knowledge. I appreciate it.

Turn the signal off.
Lol sorry could resist.
I, like others, wish mine made some kind of noise... heck it’s only on for a few seconds typically... but if unknowingly left on can cause confusion in traffic thus being unsafe.

I have a 2018 Newmar Dutch Star and the turn signals will beep after they been on after an XXX amount of time. It seems like it starts to beep halfway through a turn. I can’t be positive but I think it stated after a visit to Spartan. Very annoying it has gotten to the point I turn the turn signal off early, kind of defeats the purpose.

Mine beeps very loud, loud enough to drive the dog crazy. I taped over about 1/2 of the horn that it beeps from and that made it tolerable. I had a '63 Intl Scout long ago that I drove from Tx to Az with the left turn signal on - it didn't have a beeper and the turn signal lights on the dash were hard to see.

FlaRider did you ever get a resolution to the annoying turn signal beep? I have a 2018 King Air on a Spartan chassis. Mine now beeps if I lift off the accelerator. No one has heard of this one before.

No I haven’t got it resolved, but I have not looked it to any further. I just got in the habit of turning off the turn signal early.

Did something change if it now just started when you take your foot off the accelerator?

Something changed for sure. After talking with Newmar, Silverleaf and the repair department at the dealer I'm getting things like, "a faulty grounding wire in the rear turn signal," "could be in the accelerator box," "how the Silverleaf talks to the Riverpark box."

I find the noise of the turn signal loud and annoying. I too would like to mute it down some.

Our 2000 DSDP has this weird distant sort of sound effect. When I first heard it, it sounded like it was outside! I didn't use it a few times for fear of disturbing people nearby like a backup alarm. I finally turned it on and went outside to check - no noise out there. It's particularly aggravating with the flashers but I've left it alone figuring it's better than no noise. Good suggestions here for options. I'm going to have to take a look.

I have a 2018 Newmar King Aire with a Silverleaf VMS645 dash. I just found out how to reduce the noise coming from the turn signal. You cannot eliminate it, but you can greatly reduce it. By pressing the "Drive" and "Scan" at the same time for 3 seconds it brings up a menu on the dash. Rotate the knob down to "Blinker and Video configuration." Press the knob in. Rotate the knob to "speaker volume." Press the knob in and rotate the volume down to 1. Press the knob. The scroll down to "Restart VMS." Boom done!!
