Washing or rinsing the engine compartment

I know how to do this on an automobile, but not so sure about the engine compartment on my DP. We spend a good bit of time at the beach and salty air environments, and corrosion is a constant battle for me. Is it okay to rinse off the engine and other things in the engine compartment?

i use a 1500 psi pressure washer with fan spray and keep it a half foot or so from the ecu and the unprotected electrics. no problemo.

Do you use Simple Green regular or Simple Green Extreme. I've heard the regular might not play well with aluminum radiators.

I would not use a pressure washer and I would do it with a cold engine and then start it and let it warm up to dry it off good.

USMCRET,
As you can see there is no right answer ;-) My advice, do what you already do on your cars.

Protect the alternator and ECM's from direct water spray, everything else may be washed off.

Thanks everyone. It seems there's little difference between doing my auto and this DP.

I have Cummins steam off my engine when serviced.

In between times, I use a brake parts cleaner or engine degreaser and wipe what I can and use a light misting sprayer of water for all other places I can't reach.

I purchased a can of Cummins engine paint for any touch-ups needed.
