Old post but I'll chime in for those reading this. - Wider is better.
Not only for more room but you can see a wide trailer easier when backing up. Had a 6' wide when hauling one bike and you never knew what it was doing back there. We haul both our Harley softails now. EZPZ

5x8 I can haul 2 bikes + all the gear. To haul 2 bikes, the heavier forward, lighter backed in.

I pull a 20'x8' enclosed with sand rail and dirt bikes...Don't even know its back there until we hit down grades....trailer brakes are a must...gear adds up quick. We tow from Oceanside, CA out to Ocotillo Wells OHV park and cross 3200' elevation that works the 8.1L for sure...but we're in no hurry, just the a**holes behind me are, lol... Dual axles are nice, but that box still moves around a lot back there....if you stare at it, it moves more, haha!
