Here's a reply to an old "Spyder" post

We bought our 2018 RT Limited about 2 years ago. It has a 6-speed semi-automatic transmission (use a little thumb paddle shifter to shift up or down, and if you're feeling lazy, it'll automatically shift down for you), 1300cc liquid-cooled inline triple, Brembo brakes on all three corners, dual radiators, Dynamic Stability Control/Antilock Braking Systems and a host of other electronic doodads that make it almost impossible to flip the machine over.

To answer your questions:

(1) Reliability - the Rotax engine (made in Austria) is very reliable and I've heard of these machines easily accumulating 100,000 miles .... PROVIDED IT IS MAINTAINED CORRECTLY (like ANY machine).

(2) Ease of operation - I learned to ride it in 5 minutes. If you can ride a quad, snowmobile or waverunner, you can EASILY ride this.

We absolutely LOVE our Spyder. Its 2 front wheels/1 rear wheel design is inherently SAFER than the traditional 1 front wheel/2 rear wheels. Think about it: those two car size front tires have A LOT more meat on the road to effectively brake AND grab tarmac on winding curves. It is also FAR easier to canyon carve with it because it has a steering assist system. It has a REAL reverse gear, not like the starter ones common on Harley or Honda trikes.

Speaking of which, there are MANY riders who have switched from Harley/Honda trikes to Spyders and are happy with their decision.

And the fact that the Can-Am is cheaper than Harley/Honda is just icing on the cake.

(Note: I also have a Harley 2-wheeler and find myself grabbing the keys to our Spyder more often, lol)

Is this what you tow behind your MH or haul in your toy hauler?

2013 RT Limited. We purchased it on Valentine's Day 2022 in Phoenix. It had 11,262 miles on it. Now since then we have almost 23,000 miles on it. We have ridden it thru, Joshua Tree NP, Las Vegas, Sedona area including the ride over Mingus Mountain. Then from Sedona north on 89A to Flagstaff. Heading north we went up Mt. Nebo in Nephi, Utah. Further north we hit the Grand Tetons and then spent 3 weeks in Yellowstone on it. We eventually went to Glacier NP and rode the Going to the Sun Road for 4 days.

We also have ridden in the Little Big Horn National Military Park, Teddy Roosevelt NP in North Dakota. After this we went back to Ohio and showed the grandkids the bike, which they loved it.
We went down and rode The Tail of The Dragon, Foothills Parkway, Moonshiners 28 and the 441 Route. We have been the Outer Banks, up and down, ferry ride to Ocracoke Island with the bike. We eventually made our way to Key West with the Spyder for 2 weeks. Once we got to Texas, we have ridden several spots as well as The Three Twisted Sisters here in the hill country.
When we travel, it goes in the back of the toy hauler. Saves us money and miles on the Ram dually with her. Now, this summer we will be in Yellowstone as work camping for the company that operates the stores, hotels, etc....

We are thinking about an upgrade possibility this coming wintertime period.
