Common on the F53 chassis. The cause is excessive clearance in the brake pedal bushing. This can be verified by putting the left foot under the pedal and pushing upwards during the harsh bumps that cause the noise.
A partial fix is to remove lateral slack with packing material such as felt or soft rope that will fit snugly against the pivot point and the fixed portion of the mount without interfering with the pedal travel or affecting pedal return.
Do this with care, and at your own risk.
Messing with brake systems has obvious dangers.
The best fix would be replacing the components with those with proper tolerances.
Good luck with that.
Tell your friend to research the ever evolving information regarding the Ford F53 chassis, and the "peculiarities" inherent in it. Lots of reading to give him a head start on his new "hobby".
