2017 Forester 3011DS Rear lights

Hopefully you can see the pictures I have attached?

First one is the rear right (passenger side) light unit with the Bus in reverse.
You can see only 2 of the white LED's are illuminated.
The second picture is the left rear (drivers side) and you can see there are no white LED's illuminated.

First question, are all white LED's supposed to be illuminated with the bus in reverse gear? (I know and agree, you would think so but I have to ask as you never know with these RV manufacturers!! )

Second question, before I end up breaking any tabs, does anyone know how to remove them?
I'm assuming the silver surround is hiding the mounting screws but I'd like to know the location of the tabs so I can pries it off gently!

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks

Good question! Mine now has several red LED lights non functioning. So I was wondering the same thing. LED's are not suppose to go out so quickly. An now that there not working...what to do.

Replace the entire light fixture?
Replace a few LED lights?
Look to see if there loose wires?

Let me know if anyone responds that actually fixed their light.

Just replaced my left rear tail light. Got the part number from Forest River, who also gave me a list of local vendors. Part number you need is 40E18902A. Cost was around $50 including shipping. OH, of course it's made in CHINA. Your not just going to find this in a RV parts store, have to order it.
To replace the light there is a "chrome" ring that must be popped off. There are no slots, but there is hidden tab on the back side of the ring. Can not be seen just looking the ring. Top center and bottom center. I started with a small flat screw driver to open to a crack, quickly moved to a larger flat screw driver. Be sure to tape the tips to prevent paint damage. Once off there are two screws holding the light on the coach. NOTE: the light is factory sealed all around, no way to just replace a few leds. Its the whole light or nothing.
Once exposed there are 4 colored wires that (surprise) match the the wire inside the coach. These wires a small gauge, so use small connectors. Test before returning all to "normal". It worked, no failed leds. Then tightly taped off with electric tape. Reinstalled. Be sure to press HARD on the new plastic ring to fix it back on the light. You will hear a SNAP as it sets back in place.

Thank you so much for putting up that explanation of how you did it

My guess was the silver ring clipped off but I didn’t want to do it until that was confirmed

Looks like I’ll need to order a couple of them then!!
