2019 Sunseeker 2250LE Slider Question

I recently purchased a new 2019 Sunseeker 2250LE with a slider for the queen bed. I was told during our new owner walk through that the engine (Chevy 4500) must be running when attempting to extend or retrieve the slider.

I am using this unit for the first time and found that the slider does not operate unless the vehicle is running. My question is if there is any other way to manually extend or retrieve the slider.

It seems odd to me that the only way the slider can operate is if the engine is running. If the engine ever fails to start am I stuck with the slider in whatever position is in at the time?

None of the documentation I received with this unit discussed slider operation.

Appreciate your help...

I have the Ford F-450 chassis. I was told and I believe it states in the owners manual to have the motor running to reduce the load on the batteries. Mine works with the motor running or turned off.

The switech slide out motors draw a lot of amps and the engine alternator provides a strong constant power. The slide will work on shore power or generator but they prefer the output of the engine. It was the same way on my Winnebago.

Thanks Dave1956. I attempted to operate the slider on shore power and generator and cannot get it to work. It can only be operated when the engine is running.

I was wrong, The owners manual does say to be plugged into shore power if possible due to high amperage draw when operating the slide. I was out in mine this week and remembered when I bought it they couldn't move the slide in (the engine was running). On my chassis, if the engine is running neither the slide or the powered awning will operate. They are locked out. I suppose this is to keep them from accidently operating while moving. Apparently there are variations in the different chassis models.
Sorry for the misinformation.

Thanks for the update Siskiyouline, I have discovered that I can in fact operate the slider without the engine running but the key must be in the ignition and "on." It doesn't even have to be plugged into shore power or the generator at that point. It is interesting that there seems to be no standard between manufacturers when it comes to this. I appreciate your response to my question.
