"A" frame water leaks
I think I have tracked down all of my water leaks on my 2018 A213 A frame popup.
The last one was a real mystery. If you have water in the front slide out storage area or in the compartment between that and the toilet cassette on an A213 or similar, or at the back of either of the rear compartments, it is due to a design oversight. That means it is likely present on any vintage including new. The oversite is that flat surfaces collect water and water runs downhill.
During a strong rain event, while the top is up, water will run down the side and rest on the bottom lip of the top. It will then drain, whichever way the unit is tipped, and run off that lip onto the inner wood frame in the corner and down to the floor. I added a verticle piece of weatherstrip to the side walls under the plastic piece on the bottom corners of the top. I also placed a dam of sealant on that lip so water can't get to the ends. The weatherseal behind the plastic piece will not prevent this from happening because it cannot be tight enough against that lip.
If you don't mitigate this issue pre-emptively, you will be faced with rotted flooring to fix.
Another leak was due to insufficient sealant for the skylight. I fixed that with Butyl tape over the skylight edges.
Another leak was do to sloppy sealant for the marker and tail lights. I removed the lights and resealed with double sided butyl tape.
An yet another leak was due to dried up sealant on the rear lower metal piece. The fiberglass was totally loose from that strip. This allowed water to run down the back and under that strip onto the floor. This added to the mystery leak in the rear corner and resulted in a floor patch b4 I purchased it, but the cause was never fixed. Therefore, I has to replace a few pieces of flooring. Again, the fix was butyl tape.
I have one more piece of flooring to fix, but I don't know how since I can't remove the rot and slide another piece in there - and I am not going to gut it to replace that strip on the front (caused by the mystery leak and the marker light leak).
Any ideas for a cement type filling to cover and strengthen that strip would be welcome. It is on the outside edge behind the water heater so there is little weight on it.
Thanks
