Adding swivel seat base to passenger?

Good morning RV'ers. The wife and I are "moving in" to our new Forester 2151LE (2021 Ford E-350 chassis). As we're making it our own, I've been thinking about adding a swivel base to the passenger co-pilot seat in order to use it for recreational use (reading, putting on shoes, casual socializing) while stationary. With the airbag located in dash and the seat-belt installation, I kind-of think moving with the seat facing backward might be unsafe and possibly illegal, but I'm not sure. I'd like to open this up for conversation and glean some of the collective knowledge here.

Specifically, I'm looking at this vendor site:
https://www.discountvantruck.com/rvv...dseatbases.htm

Question: Do any of you know if installing this base would work? Anything I should consider prior to moving forward with installing this? Good idea? Bad idea?

Call these folks
https://shop4seats.com/rv-furniture/rv-bases.html
and ask about what seat bases work in your specific unit. That will answer that question. As to the other I never really thought about riding in the seat with it facing the back. And usually thereís a slide that would be in the way. And Iím sure as you said the seat belt would be useless but then the passenger would be facing backward so...?

Thanks R.Wold. I checked them out but they don't support seat bases for the newer units, much past about 2014. Appreciate the input!

I installed a swivel base for the passenger seat in out 2015 Minnie Winnie on the E350 chassis (2014 E350 Chassis). It worked fine. I had to remove some of the floor insulation for the bolts to fit. Otherwise straight forward.

It does take a little effort to do the swivel, so that that seat back, arm rest, etc clears the rigid body areas. At first it was really stiff.

2016, added swivel. Works well enough to be usable. Remember, the stripped ford chassis is unchanged for nearly a decade or more, so you may find selecting/using 2012 as your year will work fine when needed.

I purchased one for the passenger seat and am quite happy with it.

@Fred & DO26: Thx. Im not super familiar with the econoline chassis but knowing it hasnt changed much helps. Another thing thatís positive is the seat is all mechanical, not electrical.

When I ordered the prices were Passenger $195 and Driver $205. Shipping is by FedEx and was around $30 each but varies by destination zip code. He takes orders in advance and then when he has reached a minimum he triggers a build. He now says the next batch will ship towards the end of October. These bases WILL NOT work with electric seats, only Ford OEM and some aftermarket ones.

Get on the SMB forum (it is an RVLife forum too) and ask him, he's been doing these for some time. In the link I shared you'll see many pictures of installs and very good installation instructions.

I reached out to Ray on the SMB forum asking how to order one for myself. Thanks for the lead!
