I installed DynaMat sound deadening and on top of that, Dyna-Thermal Hood shield to the underside of the dog house. Made a BIG difference in noise and heat.

I would be careful with noise canceling headphones, some states do not like the idea! I found out the expensive way! This was several years ago, the officer explained the safety factor in detail for quite a while!

No matter what you put in the engine compartment be very careful regarding combustability!! Otherwise you might eliminate the noise problem and substitute it with fire and fumes. If at all possible I would try to provide additional sound proofing on the cab side of the doghouse cover.
