battery issues nwith Cedar Creek

Have a four month old Cedar Creek that I just had to replace the battery in as it will not hold a charge. The dealer told me this is normal in these models as power is drawn for for radio memory and other electronics on the unit. Even with the battery disconnect switch off the landing gear and slides will work and this does not seem normal to me, anyone had any similar problems with their unit? this was not and issue on any of my previous fifth wheels.

How are you monitoring the battery?
And is it being trickle charged when not being used?
Wet cell batteries do self discharge at a rate of between 1 and 15% per month with no load (the higher the temperature the faster the discharge). With vampire loads i.e. radio wall warts etc. you have no idea if you are not monitoring. One way to actually check individual circuits assuming your power center uses ATC fuses is a Fuse Buddy which plugs in and tells you the amp draw on that circuit.
You can always pull the battery terminal or add a true disconnect switch.

Just purchased a true disconnect switch today that connects to neg terminal of battery and i will give that a try, I know I have the option of keeping it plugged in however the building it is stored in is quite a ways from any power.

If you do not leave the unit plugged in to charge, this will happen. To much battery drain even with the disconnect open.
Either keep the battery on a float charger or remove the ground cable from the battery to remove all load. The battery will keep for months like this.
Charge the battery fully before you store it with the ground removed.

I had nothing but problems with my 10 cedar creek...Battery would not charge while I drove too...The large wall broke and had gears replaced....very unreliable. If u dont remove plug from truck before u try to move the slides u will blow the fuse in the truck....boy no one tells u about this u have to learn on your own....finally bought a 11 alpine with a generator......solved that problem......finally now in a class A....Best of luck....jim mistyvalleyacres@aol.com
