Berkshire 40' bunkhouse

I have a friend looking at the Berkshire 40' bunkhouse. One unit is 2011 with 340hp motor and the other is a 2012 with the 360hp engine. Is there a noticeable difference between the two engines? Would they both be DEF engines?

2011 has 22,000 miles with a $127k asking price

2012 has 8,500 miles with a $142k asking price.

What's your thoughts?

Since no other responses, I will offer an opinion. Both are
likely Cummins ISB engines, and both likely DEF. Nothing
wrong with DEF, more horsepower and lower emissions
for any engine. The decision on which coach would be
the interior layout and how you plan to use it. The chassis
and engine are all secondary considerations. Either coach
will be a little slower on the big hills, but will give you
back better MPG. The horsepower is one matter, but the
torque is what gets you up the hills, and absent any knowledge
specific to the engines, I would guess they are in the 750
to 800 ftlb range.

The 2011 may be a non-DEF engine. Some 2011's, including mine, were made on a 2009 chassis which does not require DEF. Both prices sound about right with some room for negotiation.

The main difference in the units will be the transmission, the 340 will have the allison 2500 trans with only 5000 lb towing capacity. The 360 will have the Allison 3000 trans with 10000 lbs towing.
