Do I have an AC Problem? 42' Trilogy

Just returned from vacation due to the heat. Here's the question, We have 42' Trilogy and I've struggled to keep the inside temp under 80 degrees the last 4 days. We have 15000 and 13500 AC units and they can't seem to keep up. It's been 100 plus outside every day, but I still thought the 2 units would keep the 5th wheel cool. Not sure whether I have an AC problem or just too hot outside.

Hey Rambler,

I think it is just to hot out for the construction of the unit and the air conditioners.
I have a 42' Country Coach, with 3 15K units on top. I camp a bunch in New Mexico and Arizona in summer heat. With the 3 units running, I can hang beef in my coach, it's freezing,

But, previously had a 34' Bounder with 2 units on top, and a real problem cooling it down in the summer heat. Real difference in insulation and construction between my old Bounder and my Country Coach.

Just my .02

Luck,
Bob

Two units is really not enough to keep the 42' unit very cool in 100 degF weather. you can check your units by running the fans on high speed and then get the reading at the air inlet to the unit and then the outlet closest to the unit. The outlet should be 18 to 20 deg F lower than the inlet.

In an effort to keep cooler, shade as many windows as possible, park in shade, keep the broad side of the RV away from the hottest afternoon sun.

Another thing you could do is pull in the slides during the hottest part of the day.

Less space to cool and less surface area exposed to the sun.
