Electric issues

I went to texas in my 2014 coachman cross country, and at the campsite my 120 volt power stopped working to everything except the washing machine. I have been che cking fuses and circuit breakers. The 120 volt problem is when on shore power or using the generator.

Any ideas would be appreciated. thanks in advance

Do the air conditoners work ?

If they do, check the inverter/charger, down in the bay, for a breaker.

Use a volt meter. Start at the ped check the voltage. Look for loose connections. Move to the RV checking EVERY connection along the way. Tighten all connections. Open the transfer switch and check all connections and check voltage. Check voltage from the gen. Two incoming sets of wires and one out going set. Check the voltage at the main 120 volt circuit breaker. Check voltage at each breaker. Again, do it in order from ped to breaker box. tighten all connections.

Strange anything works because your describing a problem with the transfer box. I am wonder if they bypassed that for the washing machine. Does the washing machine also work on the generator? If you have a inverter does that work? Is your charger showing a charge? When you checked the generator were you plugged in still, need to unplug to check that. Be complete about what works and does not, water heater, fridge on electricity?

Ped is short for the pedestal.....the box you lug into for power, possibly cable TV if the park has it.

I too would suggest the transfer switch.....I've had many incidents with ours over the years.

If you can get to yours, turn off power, take a rubber mallet or a block of wood (2x4 works well) and give that box a smack. Don't make dents, just nudge it along and have it play well with the others.

Turn power back on and check your appliances.

If that doesn't work, as noted above, you've got some work to do with a meter or you'll need to find an electrician.

The air conditioning fans will run, but it is too cold for the compressors to run. 52 degrees in the coach, thermostat goes no lower than 55 degrees.

Our 2011 Cross Country does not have a transfer switch, perhaps yours does and you can try the suggestion above. Also, did you get a look at your inverter/converter? Ours has a breaker on it that is easy to overlook. When it's tripped we don't lose everything but we lose quite a lot of items. Excluded items are the high power burners such as A/C's and our washer/dryer...... coincidence maybe.

Then its not the auto transfer switch.

Dud you check the inverter for a resetable breaker ?

If you have a generator and shore power, do you plug your cord into an outlet near the generator ?
If not, you have a auto transfer switch.

First it was only the washing machine. Now it is the A/C also. We need a list of EVERYTHING that works. Without having all the correct information it's just guess work on everybody.

Well for what it's worth. I had an automatic transfer switch burn out suddenly and I then had NO power but 12v battery. Required a replacement unit install to restore my power. I know there are 30 amp AND 50 amp automatic transfer switch, depending on your RV. Might look if you have such a switch.
