Forrester tire valve extension

Hello
We have a 2018 Forester 2801 QS.
Preparing for our annual trip, New Jersey to Florida.
Checked and added air to our tires yesterday.

Woke up this morning to snow and a flat tire, one of the rear duals, outer tire.

Will not hold air, problem with the extension.
Has anyone else had this?
Really hard to see, can't tell much with the weather.
Not sure how the extension is attached, simply screwed on to the valve or further down.
Don't want to remove the wheel covers, do I have to?

Some like extensions and others hate them. I have had failures and seen many others have failures, also. I will never use extensions again. I had extra long valve stems installed by a truck tire service shop. I do use rubber grommets to be sure they are stable. Suggest you replace short valve stems with longer ones.

The valve extensions that came with my Sunseeker were complete crap. They would lose a significant amount of pressure over a short period of time. I purchased Dually valves and I love them.

With the rigid valves stems coupled to Michelin Rib tires I maybe lose a pound or two of psi in a 6 month period
