FR 3 Water heater

Is the FR3 water heater able to heat with 110v? It seems to have an anode rod which would indicate "yes" but I get mixed messages from the dealer (most recently "no"). We have not used the unit for camping yet. Also, what is the brand for the hot water heater?
Thanks

Welcome to irv2.

Please open the outside cover to the unit and see if you still have any labels in the cabinet. If it is AC you could see a power cord there also. But the anode has me suspicious. Do you have a switch for your microwave? If so the alternate position could be for the water heater. Another place to look is inside where the heater is located, if you can get to it. You could have a element in a dedicated port back there.

Happy trails,
Rick

Most WH's have anode rods. They deteriorate over time while dissipating the nasty stuff in the water that would otherwise be deteriorating your tank.

If it's a Suburban, you'll see a black cover over the heating element from the outside of the unit. If it's an Atwood, the 110v element is mounted in the rear so you'll need to look inside the house at the back of the WH.

As Rick said, look in the outside compartment for the identification label.

My FR3 has the Suburban SW6D, Gas only. The SW6DE would be both Gas and Electric.

Thanks all for the help. I have learned that I do have the Suburban SW6D gas only water heater. It was not easy, I could not find "Suburban" anywhere but I did see "SW6D". I will try to find a manual on the web. Thanks to all who contributed. This site is great!

I'll be bold and say 'your welcome' from all of us. I know you will have the right idea for one of us some day. That is what makes irv2 so great.
