Georgetown

I will be purchasing my first RV next Spring and I am still undecided concerning Class (A or C). The Class A I am considering is a Georgetown 280DS. The Class C is a Sunseeker(28 - 30 Ft). I would appreciate any suggestions or comments from experienced RVers. My concerns are how much more difficult to drive, park, etc. are class A as compared to class C. I will be test driving but I would like some input from RVers who have experienced all types of driving conditions. I know everything is subjective, I am looking for personal opinions and any advice anyone has to offer on either Class or the models I have shortlisted.

Thanks

We went with an A because of the openness of the floor plan and the great view from front window. I like the A's drivability because you can see more. No matter what, start by driving slower until you get the feel of either one. My MH purchasing experience has taught me to pick based on the floor plan and living more than the drivability because you're on the road for less time than at your destination. Hope this helps! Happy MHing!

There's usually little difference in handling between two rigs the same length. On a recent model-year Class C, my main concern would be rear overhang. We saw some short wheel-base 30' E450 rigs with almost 18' aft of the rear wheels. One we looked at actually had a warning in the owner's manual advising against driving it with anything in the waste tanks because of possible overloading of the rear axle.

They frightened us off modern Class C's. As far as driveability is concerned, I'm much more at ease with the visibility and driving position in our Class A than I ever was with our old Class C. The additional 6' of length is rarely an issue, and there's no damn great box hanging over the front window! I really disliked the overhead bed exterior enclosure blocking off my upward peripheral vision..

I had the same questions and went with the Class A. Was not that much difference in price and the Class A felt much much larger. I had never driven anything but a U-haul every once and a while and the Class A was not a problem. Good Luck you will love whatever you decide.
