House battery disconnect solenoid

When I press the disconnect switch by the entry door, the 12 v house lights go out but when I release the switch, they come back on. Not sure I have the correct disconnect solenoid. Would anyone be able to get a part # off of theirs?

It would help t know thet make and model of your motorhome. Also, is there any chance that the battery "parallel" switch is stuck on. Thats the swich you would press to parallel the house batteries and the engine batteries, so you could start your engine or generator is the regular starting battery was low.

If that was stuck "on", your house lights would also be getting power from the engine battery bank.

Post some pictures or part #s of what you have.

Most disconnect coils only get a power to them when you push the rocker switch.

Yours may be getting power, holding it on, except when you push it.

Here is some wiring of a typical type. The switch is wired to reverse polarity depending on which way its pressed.Click image for larger version

House battery disconnect solenoid

I have a 2004 Coachman CrossCountry 3750. The battery parallel switch is ok. I do believe that I have the incorrect solenoid. I called Coachman and they do not have any information prior to 2009. This particular solenoid that I have would work but it requires a special switch and additional wiring. Still hoping somebody may have a coach similar to mine and might be able to pull a part number off their solenoid. I cannot figure out how to put a picture on this page.
