Is there some sort of shut-off flap in the A/C

Is there any sort of flap that would close and prevent A/C from sending any air out the ducts?

I had another thread, about my A/C but after 2 pages of assistance and trouble-shooting, I realize I misdiagnosed or rather misinterpreted the issue.

I have been having an issue where the A/C would stop blowing air. Note, still on and you can hear the fan running, and still feel air going INTO the intake in the cabin, but NOTHING coming out any duct vent.

BACKSTORY: We thought it was fixed by leaving the fan in "high" speed mode as there is no "low" speed. We thought it was switching to low speed mode, not finding a low speed fan, and switching back to high speed, but thought in this cycling process, it was freezing. Left fan in "high" instead of auto, and thought that resolved the issues due to in running for nearly two days instead of the usual two hours.

TODAY: I went out, after the A/C has been running nearly 48 hours (without any issue), and it was not blowing ANYTHING out of the duct vents. Just for giggles, I switched to fan mode.. All was fine, in fan mode air WAS coming out the duct vents. So... I switched back to A/C, all was fine again and has been for several hours.

There's no way it was "frozen" and magically "unfroze" after a few seconds of fan only.

The following doesn't make sense to me, but I'll explain it as I see it. "Something happened in A/C mode that caused a flap (or something) to shut off the duct vents. Switching it to fan only and back reset that." Yeah I know, sounds strange, but that's what it is acting like.

Any thoughts on what would cause this sort of behavior? Since the reset, it's been running fine. 84 outside, 71 inside.

thanks in advance.

So I was just able to do some more detailed trouble-shooting, but I'm coming up empty.

1. Went out to rig and there was minimal air coming out of the ducts. In the past, there has been NONE, but this time there was a little, very little.

2. Checked Watchdog and confirmed based on amp draw, the compressor is ON.

3. Change controlled to FAN only.

4. Confirmed via Watchdog that Compressor has turned off.

5. More air is coming out of vent.

6. Switch back to A/C mode. Compressor turns on (Confirmed via Watchdog ) and even more air, obviously cold air blowing normal.

These 6 steps happened in roughly the time it took you to read them. Well, maybe not that fast... but certainly faster than it took me to type them. Less than 5 minutes from almost nothing to blowing normal and essentially all I did was take it into fan mode and back into A/C mode.

I would open it up, from inside and look for frost when its not blowing

Could be partially blocked with dirt and freezing in the smaller open area.

Thank you. I did open it up and sure enough I could see the grid frozen and indeed just a few moments of fan clears it. But why all of a sudden. So I took the vent covers off just to look and all of the aluminum tape used to seal the air track to the vents was not just coming loose, but lifting to the point where it was essentially blocking about 20-30% of the airflow.

I just ordered some quality tape and will redo all the vents.
