Just Purchased 2016 Georgetown XL 369DS
Hi All,
Just purchased a new 2016 Georgetown XL. Sold our 2012 Thor ACE last week.
Here are first thoughts.....
1. Thought it would be underpowered because the ACE had the same powertrain but only 29 feet where this coach is almost 38 feet long, but was presently surprised to find the Georgetown easily able to keep up with traffic and climb grades with authority.
2. The bath and a half floorplan is so nice. Big full bath in the rear and plenty of space in the mid half bath.
3. Nice to have full tile flooring.
4. Residential fridge is great! No need to carry the YETI any longer.
5. Lots of storage inside and out....but not as much kitchen area storage as the ACE had.
6. Home theater surround sound system is awesome! We sat and watched a movie in the bus today.
7. Sectional couch is also nice and comfortable. It also has 2 recliners in the couch and the entire couch jacknife's into a bed.
8. Forward overhead bunk is manual (ACE was electric) but easy to use.
9. The front curved windshield is very large....and the view is like watching a IMAX movie!
10. Dual a/c with heat strips are not too loud and put out plenty of air, even on the low fan settings....we cool the bus with just the front a/c so far.
11. King bed (SERTA) is comfortable. We had installed a Sleep Number in the ACE but this mattress is comfortable enough that we will not need to upgrade.
12. Same hydraulic jacking system as the ACE. Easy to use.
13. 22.5" tires and aluminum wheels give off that big rig look that we like.
14. Had the front end aligned before delivery and this thing rides very very smooth, tracks straight and the steering wheel is properly aligned.
15. Onan is rear mounted so it's quiet.
16. Has an electric fireplace, we have not tried it yet other then to turn it on for a moment. It has a fan that will put out some heat although not enough to warm the whole coach.
17. The full body paint is excellent, as is the tile flooring.
18. Has convection microwave and oven.
19. Outside TV has bluetooth and aux inputs along with 4 speaker sound.
20. Electric awning with LED lights
21. They ran a propane line to the passenger side and put in a small compartment a quick release valve so folks can connect their grill directly to the coach propane tank....I thought this was cool because I had made up on of those on the ACE to save from carrying around the small green tanks everywhere.
22. Lots of other features, some of which I haven't even discovered yet.
The negatives.....
1. Made a punchlist at the dealer but some of the items were not completed. Parts on order.
2. Had some overspray in a few small spots that need fixed.
3. One slide trim is etching into the paint....also slated for repair.
4. Aluminum wheels have overspray. (had this on another coach I bought)
5. Tile had glue in several locations that required alot of elbow grease to remove.
I will try to post some photos tomorrow. We really love the layout of this coach and so far the negatives are few. We plan on taking it to Asheville in the next few weeks for a short shakedown weekend.
Purchased it from Mid State RV in Byron, Georgia. Very nice people, met the owner, Lee. He has owned the store 30 years.
Thanks again for reading. Feel free to ask any questions....
Tom

We are very interested in this coach and thanks for posting. Just waiting for it to come in at the Colorado dealer. Any other new thoughts since you have used it?

Nice write - hit the nail on the head for all features. We bought the XL 350TS back in March. Love it. It does drive heavy but drives really nice. Let me know what you think when you get out on the large overpasses and steeper grades. My comment is that you have to push it a little harder due to the weight to maintain speed. I also know exactly what you mean about the mis-placed glue on the floor. Can't see it on the beautiful tile. Oh..and fair warning the ITC lights are awesome but almost all failed - most are replaced now as I hear they had issues with certain lots of these lights.
Enjoy and please keep us updated as to your upcoming trip.

Plan to leave South Central MO Thursday morning and head to our hometown of OKC OK and stay overnight. Plan to arrive before lunch. Think that we are purchasing the last 2016 that they have. It is pre-own with only 4,000 miles on it and the price was right. Pray that there are not any surprises.
