Smile Sunseeker Brake Controler Problem

I have a 2018 F R Sunseeker, I bought a harness (3036) for the brake controller and a new Primus Q1 Controler. When I press on the brake pedal the dash icons light up an I loose the speedometer and wont start. I thought this was a plug an play. Did this happen to anyone or have a clue to fix. I don't have internet all the time so I would except text message at 716 863 2605. Thanks

1) Disconnect the trailer from the tow vehicle
2) Disconnect the controller from the tow vehicle
3) Press on the brake pedal. No problem, same problem or different problem?
4) If no problem, connect the trailer to the tow vehicle
5) Press on the brake pedal. No problem, same problem or different problem?
6) If no problem, connect the controller to the tow vehicle
7) Press on the brake pedal. No problem, same problem or different problem?
8) Disconnect the trailer from the tow vehicle
9) Press on the brake pedal. No problem, same problem or different problem?

This should be a start to figure out the cause.

It appears as if you have the correct adapter for your E-450-based 2018 Sunseeker Class C.

The dealer said Ford added a wire, I have to move a pin. They said possible ground. You would think that anyone with a new Sunseeker would have the same problem if they tow. Thanks

Pops90gt-

It sounds as if you need the 3034-P adapter, rather than the 3036-P that you have. Sorry I made the mistake of confirming the 3036-P in my post #2.

Link to buying a 3034-P is here. On that page is this comment:

Quote:
The 3034-P cable was the correct cable to interface the Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller with my 2018 Jayco Class C 29MV on a Ford E-450 Superduty Chassis. I verified this with the techs at Tekonsha. The previously ordered 3036-P cable did NOT work. When connected the RV would crank but would not start, and the P3 had no indication of power. The 3034-P cable did the trick. The RV starts, the P3 has power, and after a test drive today I can report the P3 is activating my trailer brakes properly.
You can also re-pin the 3036-P you have to match the 3034-P. You release the wires by removing the red retainer. Then you can get the pins out, best with a pin removal tool, but sometimes with a very small screwdriver, like one used for electronics. Re-pin to match the 3034-P pictures shown at the link above. Reinsert the red retainer. Done.

Easier to order the 3034-P overnight delivery, though more expensive.

Thanks for replying I ordered the 3034-p harness. Im not moving pins and the RV dealer said they can fix the problem, but they will have to charge. No thanks you would think they should have the correct one on hand. Thanks Again.
