Thinking of Purchasing Forest River

My husband and I are going to full-time for a few months (new to RV-ing and full-timing in an RV!)

We're close to purchasing and are considering 2 Forest River models, among others.

I'd love some input from you folks who know more than I do!

Looking at:
  • Forest River FR3 28DS (year 2016, asking price around $75k)
  • Forest River FR3 30DS (year 2018, asking price around $85k)

Anything we should look out for with these models? Any big red flags or issues?

THANKS IN ADVANC!

Just keep in mind that the fr3 is an entry level gas motor home. You may want to consider spending the same $80k on a used gas motor home of higher quality and a proven reputation. I would buy a gently used unit from the Original Owner and NOT from a dealer.

My best suggestion would be to do your research by using a great resource at
rvreviews.net

In the end do what you want.

Coachmen - Mirada...

I've said this so may times I almost feel bad sharing it again... We've had (6) motorhomes including (2) Winnebago and (1) Tiffin diesel units. I was a tried and true Winnebago owner until our 2013 Suncruiser left us "high and dry" literally every 5th time the slideout system was activated.

I spent weeks closely scanning RV Trader and multiple dealer websites across the country. We ended up at Motorhome Specialists (MHSRV.com) south of Dallas where we bought our 2018 Mirada 35KB on the spot.

We've used it multiple times since last year without a single problem except a couple of loose staples. Feel free to PM if you want additional information.

Thanks. Eric

I have lived in my FR made motorhome for 7 years and 8 days. Despite being an entry level model that I bought at a promotional price I have had zero problems that I didn’t cause. I would buy another FR RV in a heartbeat.

Have a Forest River 38 foot fiver...never again!

Question...why would a company, let's say Forest River, have 8,274 different names for their products? Maybe to try to "re-invent" themselves ?

Of course...do what you want to do!

I’m very anti forest river

I’ll keep this short. Had a forest river new toy hauler. Toilet kept clogging. Took to dealer and they told me was not enough gap between bottom of toilet dealer and black tank. Forest river refused to fix it. Non existent customer service. Do yourself a favor and buy elsewhere.

Seems like FR keeps coming out with the same poor quality stuff under different names so they can sell their often poopy products to unsuspecting folks.

In the end...buy what you like.

Had few problems with my FR sunseeker

Typical small stuff that almost all rv's have. I would buy another FR rv.

Totally agree Charles LI would suggest googling a MH PDI list and fully inspect the unit you choose before you put any real money down on it.I had such a list but got blinded by the bright shiny new MH in front of me and forgot half of it. Had a white knuckle ride home because of mixed tire pressures and kinked air bag line that should have been caught if I had stayed focused. All I easily fixed once I got home. Now it's perfect

Be careful. I am waiting on FR to make a decision as to what is going to be done with my less than year old fifth wheel that had the roof tear off on the highway and spots of very spongy floor. Check the floor construction. If it is a beaded styrofoam board sandwiched between two rather thin sheets of plywood......WALK away.
