Trailer brakes

Anyone happen to have a 2006 coachman cross country 351ds with a trailer brake controller? Apparently mine is wired for trailer brakes but does not have the box..from what I understand there is a plug somewhere in/under the dash that I should be able to plug into the box but I can not find it to save my life

The wiring for a trailer brake controller might have been installed on the chassis, but if it wasn't used by a previous owner it still might be bundled up under the dash. Try tracing all the large groups of wires coming into the dashboard area and see if you can find wires taped to the loom, often the ends will be taped up to prevent connecting when not wanted.

If you can't find it under the dash, look at the wiring in your trailer connection and see if the controller wires are there. That could give a clue of insulation color to look for under the dash. If it gets too hard to find, buy a couple of spools of proper gauge wire and a bunch of zip ties and put a new set of wires in.

Coachmen Trailer Electric Brake Controller Wiring

Anthony C-

First off,

Second, here is a link to a Google search of iRV2 posts using the phrase "coachmen cross country brake controller." Here is a link to the same search, without the "cross country."

Based on what I read, it's likely your coach comes with factory-installed brake controller wiring.

The chassis builder usually supplies the brake controller wiring. You could call them. NOTE: Some manufacturer's customer support folks do not know their product line well enough to tell you correctly whether or not wiring is there, or where to find it.

Finally, you should add a signature to your iRV2 user profile. It tells everyone specifics about your coach, and is appended to each post, so you don't have to put that information in each post. Instructions are here.
