It is a mistake to allow any mechanical object to realize that you are in a hurry.

Not all RVs have a water heater bypass. You need to see if it is listed as included or an option.

If you have one, it is usually located on the back side of the water heater. There should be an access panel or opening to the back of the water heater in the back of a cabinet.

Oh, and welcome to iRV2.

I have a 2011 Georgetown Class A, the bypass is accessed under the hot water heater. 3 valves to bypass hot water heater.

I found my bypass valves quickly after that first cold shower. I have a 2013 Leprechaun 280 DS. I had a quick tour before a took it home and was told about the bypass valves but wasn't paying good attention. My first trip was to South Jersey in May 02013. On the way I spent a couple of days in Indiana. I had never owned a motorhome before and it was my first time at an RV park. I looked all over for the bypass valves with no luck. In the morning I look again and no luck so I took a cold shower. Holy moly that was cold. That gave me the motivation to find them suckers and I did. They are located under the right nightstand by the bed. There are two round black plastic things that look like heat vents. One is a vent. The other is a screw cap. Take it off and there they are. Sure made the next shower a whole lot better.

If it's a Forest River travel trailer the bypass will be a line running between the inlet and outlet of the WH right at the WH itself. There will be valves in the WH inlet, outlet, and the bypass line. Close the one in the bypass line and open the ones on the inlet & outlet lines.
