Max water pressure all RV's is 60 PSI.. Some are stickered 45 just to be safe (mine is) I recommend and set my regulators at 50.
NOTE: Pre-set regulators will normally be between 45 and 55 PSI
Regulators come in a few different styles.
One is a cylinder like thing about 3/4 inch by about 4-5 inches Female hose coupling one end and mail the other This is junk.
Another is like the above but has wings on body or a bright plastic grip on the female end. Also junk
These DO limit the pressure, but they also restrict flow to the point where the standard one you get the feeling you can pass water faster than it does (And I agree with that feeling).
Sur-Flo: I give it a 9,, This is the one that is "Standard" on many motor homes (installed as part of the inlet) See note below.
Valterra Adjustable: I have not tested, Others say nice things.
Watts and Zurin, These unit have a bell shaped upper housing, Solid brass construction and either sweat fittings (Copper pipe) or Screw fittings (Iron pipe thread) For the most part. They do make one with hose fittings but I do not recommend it, Hose fittings are added to the ones I do recommend, (Some stores sell it pre-assembled or in kit form but you can get the "Parts" (Regulator plus hose adapters) at Lowes or Home Depot, Around 60=80 biucks total) Mine are 3/4 inch and I give them a solid TEN when new
Now.. The Sur-Flow, and both the Zurin and Watts, as they age will become restrictive of flow.. Rebuild kids SHOULD fix that.. I need to rebuild 2 of mine.
As to installed reguators on some MH's.. Proper place for the regulaor is the PARK end of the fresh hose.. the 110+ Pressure I have seen (Along with park management) in two parks is enough to explode your hose.
