The problem with such a long interval is the grease can dry out some. I've never had a failure on a TT, boat trailer, or glider trailer... But on my TT I do the grease gun thing every other year, and a complete tear-down and inspection with new seals every other year. Three years is a bit of a stretch, in my opinion, but I was trained as an aircraft mechanic, and believe in maintenance schedules.

Never........ All my life, wheel bearing's are check before each season, before use, on any trailer/Coach. I inspect for water intrusion, grease break down, and proper wheel bearing tightness/loading...........If any problem seems to be present, repack them, and install new seals. Never had a problem.
I see a lot of them along the road each year......
