Here is an illustrated view of what our house should look like with our paint scheme, except the shingles should be a light brown/tan color.

I would like to thank Saylor; part of the Lake Weir Living staff, who did her magic on this earlier today.

Are there any other elevation designs on these homes? They all look alike from what I've seen. I'd love to see some variety in architecture.

Hiya Lori,

You can have any elevation you want...each home is custom designed to satisfy the homebuyer's desires, including the exterior architecture. Jabird56's RV garage home featured in this thread is amazing. Our community advertises in FMC Magazine, MotorHome Magazine and a variety of other media. We have RVers tour and visit nearly everyday. Everyone that has come during the building of Jabird56's home, finds it to be beautiful and impressive.

We drove through the area today. Unfortunately, it was late in the day and the sales office was closed so we did not experience a "tour." We picked up a map and drove around the area for about 20 minutes before the sun set. The self-guided tour map directed us to Bay Drive, Bay Terrace Way and other streets in the area. There are not many houses on those streets.

Is there another area that has more completed (or nearly complete) houses? Driving through the area shown on the self-guided tour was a little disappointing - there were no problems... just not many houses to see.

I guess we'll have to return sometime when we can devote more attention to seeing the area.

I'm curious about the general area. It looks like many of the roads were put in several years ago - reminiscent of other Florida developments that never came to be. Did Lake Weir Living come along more recently? That's not a complaint - just an observation/question. There are lots of places in Florida with streets paved and street signs erected and then (for various reasons) nobody bought the property. With The Villages and Del Webb nearby maybe this areas' time has come.

Lucius/Danielle,

This is a fairly new “custom built” home community in a country setting just minutes from all the shopping, entertainment, restaurants and medical in The Villages as well as up the road in Ocala. The developer is NOT in the cookie cutter throw them houses up mentality. It's a true custom home atmosphere allowing us to build a dream home (with an RV and 3-car garage as well as a side pad for guests with RVs). Lake Weir Living states they are “Baby Boomer Toy Friendly”, so there are retirees with motorcycle, classic car, and RV interest. We’ll be able to enjoy the peaceful, relaxing and comfortable country setting, and the conveniences in The Villages and Ocala. A main attraction for us was that we’ll be located outside of the tourist environment in Orlando and on the coasts, but we’re just an hour or so away from many of the attraction. For us, it's the best of both worlds. You didn’t mention if you saw our house going up on Bay Lane, but the wife and I have been extremely impressed with the building contractor’s professionalism and attention of every detail as this house goes up, and we CAN’T wait to be moving in at the end of April.

The last time we were down at the house; in December, there were a total of three houses going up. One is now occupied (car hobbist), the next one is due early next month (RVr), and we'll be excepting ours the end of April (RVr). I haven't asked if any others are in progress at this point.

Hope this helps, and you have a chance to comeback and get a tour of this place.

jabird56,

I may have seen your house under construction. I don't recall the street but I think the floorplan was the mirror image of the picture you showed above.

I don't have any problems with LWL except that I didn't see very many completed houses. I only recall one house with multiple car garages and one house with an RV garage (perhaps it was yours). Other than that, the dozen or so houses I saw all looked pretty conventional.

In addition, I'm curious if the property was originally planned for development some number of years ago. Just a curiosity since some of the streets seemed to be older than just a couple of years.

I hope all goes well with your house. I definitely like the idea of no HOA.

Lucius

Lucius,

I'm glad you like that we're HOA-free. Please, next time you plan to be in central FL let me know a day or two in advance, and I'll be happy to show you our community. I remember you called that day and anticipated arriving after office hours. I was in the office late hoping to catch you...but it sounds like you arrived just before sunset and drove around briefly...and missed really seeing our development. Nearly all the homes have multiple garage bays (3--5 car garages, RV garages, workshop/hobby shop garages) and side pads. We're a niche community for active adults and a new development. Lake Weir Living is truly about custom homes and dream garages for toy owners (RVs, cars, boats, motorcycles etc). I'm happy to go over what our community is all about. Feel free to call me at 1-352-288-0448. When you like, drop me a call. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks, Neil (owner/developer of Lake Weir Living).

Does the development have a what is sometimes called a CFD Community Facilities District Fee. It is in addition to your property tax rate that allow the developer to implement fees and issue the necessary tax exempt bonds to pay for public facilities over a number of years. Some of the bonds are 20 to 40 years, the homeowner pays on them every year. Thanks in advance.

Good question.
There is no CFD. No CDD. No bond fees. No homeowners association fees.

Feel free to contact me at 1-352-288-0448.

Thanks, Neil

Next time we're in Florida we'll make a point to stop by and see Lake Weir. We're not interested in buying but I like the idea of an RV/Toy community and want to see what Lake Weir Living has to offer.
