Have often thought to do that with mine , but never timed it. Too much snow on the roads up here now. Will have to wait till spring. Will just have to find out if 26.3 secs is a good time. Unless you've got a really modified engine , I'm sure the drive train will handle it.

This thread reminds me of a time about two years ago when I was replacing a rusted out muffler on my Winnebago. I couldn't find a nearby shop to replace the large single muffler and pipes. I found a local mechanic said he could replace my single muffler with two mufflers and turn one out each side using 2=3" pipes instead of one 4".
Well, install went fine but seem to be a little loud at idle. He said try it and let him know if still loud at 60 to 70 mph when cruising.
His place was near the freeway entrance ramp, up hill no traffic. I did not put it to the floor but the Motor Home blew me back in the seat and leaped up on to the free way.
Granted I had a totally empty coach in case I had to leave it, nothing in fresh, black or gray and no toad. This is power I have never felt in any motor home, the only problem is no cop or wife would put up with the noise this thing was pumping out. Turned around at the next exit, told mechanic order quieter mufflers.

This is a prime example of the difference between horsepower and torque. Horsepower determines how fast your speed will be when climbing a hill, but torque governs your "speed off the line." You can do all sorts of engine tuning things to boost horsepower but torque, in diesels, is pretty much dictated by how big the engine is.
Most newer DPs are built using the Cummins ISB engine with some larger ones using ISL's and a very rare few using ISX's. There's more than a factor of two difference in torque between an ISB and an ISX and that makes a huge difference in how fast you can merge onto a highway.
My C-12 has 1550 lb-ft of torque in a lightweight chassis (34,000 lbs) and it accelerates more like a car than a heavy vehicle. I've been told by some old-timers that Beaver rallies of the late '90's used to feature "drag races" for Patriot Thunder models to participate in.

A diesel MH TCM derates the engine to prevent destroying the Allison tranny with engine torque upon take-off from a dead stop. It will be slower than a gas engine model.
