This is an amazing project! RVs have huge potential to be improved upon in almost every way, don't they? That's what makes them "fun" to own for some brave, talented people.

Have you considered the possibility of the one-piece aluminum skin roof shrinking and expanding differently than the rest of the coach? I've seen this happen and cause issues on composite (steel frame, aluminum deck) flatbed trailers.

My rough math the expansion over the 35' length if the temp went up 100*f it would expand out less than .5" in length. Not nothing but not a ton either. Will still be a floating esq roof with the sides tucked and glued in the chanel so it will have room to move.

Made some good progress on Saturday, got about half of the wires dropped though for the lights and got a few mounted, led specials off of Amazon. With the covers clipped on there seems to be some interference with the integral buttons, might need to file down the plastic piece a bit, overall very happy with how it looks and that is a minor issue to address later.

Also got the first two sheets of 1/2" ply down for the roof, glued and screwed in, very sturdy. Actually feels like what I would describe as a walk on roof contrary to winnebago's definition...

Chugging along!

Aluminum spool showing up tomorrow on the boat.
Happy I was able to save 700$ plus shipping by fixing the bent up front steps with the torch and a hammer.

No update for awhile because I've been swamped but we are out camping! First outing to Homer AK last weekend went great, no leaks . FIrst Class A I have owned and I am amazed at how much power the cummins has.

Since the last update got the roof stuck down, fabricated new rails to hold it down on the sides (lots of welding), pressure tested water system, found water heater cracked, was able to disassemble and weld it up, working like a charm now. Also had to replace all the mixing valves on the sinks, new faucet for the kitchen sink, new valve for the shower, installed victron multiplus 2 with cerbo gx and touchscreen, currently wired with the AC the same way the old magnum was, plan on wiring direct to the transfer switch at some point, epoch 460ah battery installed with closed loop communication to the victron for charging. Welded up all new exhaust from the turbo down, reinstalled back cap, rebuilt sleep number bed with new case, I am sure I am forgetting some things... Just happy to be camping while the weather is still nice, plenty of trim work to finish up this winter.

Few more pics.

Channel.to.secure aluminum roof was made by cutting some 1"x.5" aluminum channel in half flipping and re welding. This made a nice channel ti stick the aluminum in giving about 3/4" of overlap woth the roof, after I stichwelded it in place I was able to crimp it tight to the aluminum roofing with 12 pind deadblow. With no adhesive I wouldn't be worried about it coming out unlike the original. I still capped it the entire length with lexal.

You've done a great job to bring the coach back to it's original glory and better.

Enjoy
