05 Winnebago Vectra HWH Jack issue
Hello,
Today when we parked, my wife was extended the jacks. I happened to look underneath the back and both rear jacks were leaking hydraulic fluid. We retracted then and that seemed to slow it down. The front jacks do not have this issue. If anyone has an idea on how I start to troubleshoot this, I appreciate any suggestions.

Well KenClay,
A bit of history might help here. First, how long have you owned and operated the coach. In other words, is this the first time you have ever used the jacks or, you've used them once or twice or many times before and this is the first time they've leaked? And it sure seems really odd that BOTH jacks just all of a sudden start to leak at the very same time, at least to me that's odd.
Can you tell exactly where the hydraulic oil is coming from? A seal, maybe a fitting where the hydraulic line attaches to the jack? We have a sistership to your coach. Ours is an '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the CAT C-7 330HP and so far, knock on wood, our jacks are hanging in there with no leaks. And I think our system is identical to yours. Ours is the HWH 625 Computer Control Automatic Leveling System.

If it is the jack itself that is leaking (vs hose or fitting) best to contact HWH about reman jacks.
If you have a really good hydraulic shop, may want to check with them.

That appears to be the main oil seal leaking, noting short of replacement/rebuilding will stop the leak.
I assume you've been cleaning the cylinder shaft as recommended by HWH? Hydraulic oil or brake fluid will destroy the seals too.
Until you have made the necessary repairs, just use manual leveling and only use the front jacks, no side to side either as it uses the rear jacks.
DO NOT add stop leak of any kind to the system unless you have the deep pocket to replace the entire system when it fails.

Hi
We have owned the coach about 3 years. We live in it full time and we move every 2-4 weeks. This is the first time that I have noticed a issue. The previous spot we was in was a cement pad, so I think a leak we be noticeable. Our system is the HWH 625 system. It seems odd that it was both back jacks. The pad we are on now is rock and not packed down very well.

clean the cylinders with engine degreaser. top to bottom. hose it off, let it dry, then, put all the jacks down. check the top of the jack for fluid. if there is fluid there, there is either a hose fitting leak or a jack down sensor seal problem.
if the fluid leak is lower, check the fittings that holds the pressure switchs at the bottom of both jacks. if no fluid there, the last place a leak can occur is at the main seal, in which case the cylinders will have to be rebuilt. if you can supply a AP model number off either cylinder, i may be able to help you find one or both. if you want them rebuilt, which is cheaper, call hwh and get on the call back list.. they do call back, it just takes time.
