10kw Generator runs for an hour than Shuts down

My Onan 10kw runs for an hour and then shuts down. I can start and run for another while before it shuts down.

It just quits doesn't sputter hesitate or act up, just quits like someone shut it off. I can restart it right away and it will run for at least 30 minutes.

Show a 36 code which is engine default code.
Fuel or air

Hoping some of you have some ideas as to what is causing this.

...would have suggested that maybe your genset auto-start was set-up to stop after an hour and was activated....but fault code 36 may be a different issue.....

Am I correct in assuming that you have already checked the engine oil level? There is an automatic shutdown after a period of time if the oil level is down by a certain amount. Fill it to the mark to eliminate that. However, it shouldn't run for an hour if the oil level was low. You stated that you see a fuel code - possible water in fuel? You should get the same code if you run the main engine.

If it shuts down in exactly one hour, check for an AGS setting.

That could be it, but how does one go about disconnecting the AGS auto start feature

If there is enough water in his fuel tank to reach the gen pickup, he's not going anywhere !

I have the Cummins/Onan EC30W and there is a "Y" connection right at the genset. Out of one side of the Y is the wiring going to the Coach and out of the other side is the wiring going to the auto start control module. Not sure if your is the same........try and locate the control module.......or look at the big wiring plug right on the side of the genset and see if there is a Y connection there on yours.

I'm sure you have but have you replaced your fuel filter lately, sounds like it could be fuel related.

Checked things out today, and definitely cannot disconnect the AGS as all the wires are connected and the only wires going into the generator.

Have studied the manual a little although so far it hasn't been much help. Will try to reset everything today and see if that helps as long as those crazy Santa Anna winds don;t come up to much here today.

Will report back if we get anywhere with this

AGS is set to 'disabled' on your Magnum panel?

I had this exact issue. Turned out to be a faulty fuel pump.
