120 shore power keeps shutting off in coach

We keep losing 120 power in the coach. It works for a while then goes off. The first time it happened, the coach batteries also went dead. When we started charging the batteries with a car charger, the 120 power started working again.

Over time, the auto charger shuts off and the batteries die then the 120 turns off.

One other odd thing is the control panel is only reading 30 amps even though we are connected to 50 amp service. We tested the 120 all the way to the breakers and it seems fine.

What is going on? My guess is that the charging part of the inverter is not working and that for some reason the 120 needs the batteries to be charged to a certain level in order to operate. This seems odd, but I am not sure what else is going on.

Displaying 30 amps is telling me that you most likely are not on a true 50 amp/240V
service (12000 watts or two 120V legs on opposite phases), but actually 50 amps of 120V giving you 6000 watts, Split accross both legs going into the coach.

Just one part of the puzzle.

When it shuts off go outside and feel your cord where it plugs into the post. I had my surge protector turning mine off , then it would reset. Thought at first it was park power as it was in the 90's. Nope, the plug was burnt and melted around the prongs. Changed the plug and it's been fine ever since. The plug will be hot if the connection is bad.

It's a 2002 Fleetwood Discovery. The inverter/charger is a Freedom Combi.
