1984 Executive

Hello my wife and I inherited a 1984 executive motorhome. It needed a lot of TLC but slowly making progress in the right direction. Unfortunately we are having a hard time finding replacement parts for this rig. Example we need to replace the driver side door that completely rotted away. I was hoping if anybody knows a good idea of where we can find replacement parts for our RV we will be extremely grateful .

Glad to have you here in the forum with us.

Good luck with this daunting project.

If you do an internet search for "used rv parts" you will find several salvage yards that may carry the parts that you need.

Happy Trails!!!

I have never had a drivers door rot. I have repaired many main doors that had rotted away. If it is wood covered by plastic and aluminum. You can carefully remove it and disassemble it from the interior side. Be careful with the old wood, so that you have the wood to use as a pattern. If some of the wood crumbles, just look at the rot pattern on the inside of the door and measure that. I was a service manager and not a carpenter, but I did quite well. It is not as hard as it sounds.

Remember time is money! Before you invest too much of either make sure this is the road you want to go down. Assume you spend 5000 plus 500 hours is this better than spending 9 or 10k on a similar MH and using the time to camp/travel?

good luck!

Thank you very much! Luckily I'm only redoing the kitchen area/living room area. There are a couple areas of concern but everything works very well. More of just looking into the modernization look and fixing a couple leaks. The main leak was on the driver side door it was crooked and since this was my father's it wasn't used for a while and about two years of rain going inside that door leaking into the floor cause a little bit a right on the corner sub flooring and the door itself to rot out. So other than trying to find a door which I thought would be cheaper I might have to get one custom-made.

Yes when I Took the door offand place it on the ground it literally bent in half and just disintegrated unfortunately. Took off the exterior coating and interior coating. There are also 4 metal outside frame prices to keep it together with silicon. Took off and all that was left was wood door and a single piece of foam insulation
