Post 1990 mallard motor home ford 460 on oshkosh frame.

I just brought this 1990 mallard motor home it is in great shape except for the brakes, pedal goes almost to floor before stopping,can pump up, but goes back down. i can hear something running when you apply brakes, al so the speedometer spped works but mileage indicator does not rool over.

If the odometer is mechanical and not digital (1990 Ford had both) there is a small plastic gear that strips out in them, Google can help you there.
Brakes are tough to diag over the net, if it were mine at 15 years old I would replace everything so I wouldn't have to worry about it. The "running" noise might be the back up motor for the hydroboost system, does it do that with the key on/engine off or with the engine running?

You can obtain a copy of the chassis manual from my server,
JD Chassis Manual. The John Deere manual is slightly older, but the chassis is basically the same.

From your description it looks like a rebuild master cylinder will be needed. Also replacing the entire speedometer might be the way to go. Ours self destructed due to bad internal bearings.
