1992 Bounder Diesel Pusher motor seized. Buy and fix?

Guy i know has a 1992 Bounder has 69k miles on it body is great. He installed new frig cost 2400.00 and new a/c unit , tires are 3 years old and batteries also. The engine overheated and it seized. He said would sell for 3k. Question is it worth it? Also has 7.5 onan diesel generator. i have a 1993 coachman santara i bought has major roof leak needs inside and outside sheeting replace on first 8 ft right now has a tarp on it. also it has major delamination issues. it has a 5.9 also 72k miles thinking of taking it out and parting it out and putting in the Bounder which has a great body. One concern i have is the Bounder has hydraulic breaks oshkosh chassis and allison at500. the coachman has spartan chassis and pacbrake and air brakes. the coachman is fixable but wont be cheap thus the possible purchase of the bounder. one concern is when the bounder 5.9 overheated would that effect the allison transmission? thanks for the in put.

He says 3, I bet he'd go less for green in hand. If you are able bodied and have the know how and tools for the swap, why not? I would probably do it.

There are far more qualified powertrain folks on this forum than I, but I think you are on the right track in making sure the Allison trans in the Bounder is set up to accept your Cummins 5.9. If you have the storage space to temporarily have access to your rig as well as the Bounder, $3k would buy you a lot of MH if you have the ability and tools to swap in the engine from your rig. If you feel that the engine swap project is too much for you to take on, where do you think you would go to get estimates for the job? Fellow forum members, what do you estimate the job would cost?

If you go ahead with the project, please take plenty of photos and post updates to this forum. Most of us here would love to follow your progress.

Rip the engine out, tow it to a mh park and call it a tiny home. You can get 40k for it.

Check the fluid to see if it is "burnt" or dark colored. The engine overheating should not bother the transmission. Take it out, change the fluid & filters, put it on the other engine and go.
