1992 Country Coach Affinity value
A friend has to hang up the keys to his coach. It has been very well maintained as he was an aircraft engine mechanic instructor and he treats everything like you would an air plane.
The coach is currently being gone over by Oregon Motorcoach Center in Eugene, OR. None of the dealers in the area want to handle a coach of that age. Also their commisionn rate is so high not much would be left. My thinking is that it would be worth $20-25,000. It has the turbo 300hp CAT 3208 with 224,000 miles.
I have room to park it for a bit when it comes out of the shop after being refreshed.
Any suggested course an action?

JDP are ridiculously low on high end old DP coaches. You can get $6200 for a decent 92 class C.
My guess is 20K ish final. The miles might put some buyers off thinking in terms of gas instead of DP.
Just did a search..There's not many out there for sale to compare. One on FB marketplace 20k marked down from 25k. They were all high HP compared to most brands from that era.

Is it going on consignment? I will be at OMC Sunday for a few days and will take a look. You won't get that coach for the Powers value, only in your dreams. I can probably tell you what the asking price will be tomorrow

The miles will scare a lot of people, to the point where they won't even consider it. I agree Powers is stupid low and I think he could get $20-25 if he is patient and advertises a lot, lots of pictures to show the condition and offset the mileage fears.

It is still at OMC as waiting for a new fresh water pump to come in. It initial plan was to consign it but the consignment fee run $10,000 and at this age and price level not much is left. They are spending about $6,000 making sure everything is as it should be. Plus they put four new batteries in it prior to sending it to OMC.
At this point I am thinking of selling it for them. I would list it at $25,000 but would accept anything in the neighborhood of $20,000. Might even accept less as I would do it as a favor and no commission.
After this one is gone, I will be selling their 1974 FMC for them as well. They are nice people and need some assistance at this point in their lives.

1992 was just before the big improvement in drivetrains.
Old parent block Cat 3208 V8 to linered I6.
Allison 4 speed transmission to 6 speed.
Said another way, the 1992 would be worth quite a lot less to me than a one year newer with more modern drivetrain.
Agree the Affinity is a beautiful coach.
