1999 Rexhall Rexair Won't Shift

Hello, I own a 1999 Rexhall Rexair, about 6 months ago I stopped at an RV park, it drove just fine when we parked it, and the next morning it wouldn't go o to gear, non of the gears will catch, it just slides through them. Been stuck here ever since. Any ideas?

Most likely cause is no transmission fluid. If that is ruled out then check the linkage - is the shift lever actually moving the shift linkage all the way to the transmission.

Yes, the shifter does move, it can move through all the gears but catch none of them, it has transmission fluid, what's a linkage?

Engine idle speed to high will lock out shifting.

Needs to be 700 to 800 RPMs.

I'm assuming this is a front engine RV. If you're sliding the shifter up and down and it's not clicking into the gear detents, the shifter may not actually be moving the linkage rod that connects the shifter to the transmission. You'll probably have to be underneath to see this, but there should be a metal rod that is bolted to an arm on the transmission, and the other end connects to a shaft that is turned by the shifter. I'm betting either the top or bottom of that connection is loose and you're not actually actuating the transmission shifting mechanism.

Linkage is the connection between the steering column shift lever and the transmission ; could be a number of rods and pivot points or a cable .

Still waiting for info on type of chassis and engine /trans ?

Seriously still stuck? Your first post was April 29. No local service that can come to site? No one In RV park to help or get you help? Did you at least enjoy the extended stay? Do you have Coach Net or Good Sam roadside assistance? You should.

It can happen F53's as well on other Fords that the cable that connects the shifter to the transmission can break. It may well be attached on both ends and look OK. Until you have a person under the coach to watch it while you have another operating the shifter inside.
