2000 Ford F53 parking brake inop

Damon Intruder parking brake pedal , no ratchet action , not holding although shoes engaging , will stop when rolling . Any ideas ?

I am assuming you have a release lever of some type (Mine does), so look under the dash where that is and see if something is holding it in the released position, or maybe it is just stuck and could use some lubrication . Anyway that is where I would start looking.

I was told by Sanderson Ford truck dealership that the F-53 has one, maybe two adjustments in it, then it's an expensive proposition involving replacing parts. I didn't get the details because my 99 Winnebago Chieftain adjusted just fine, but he said it was probably the last time.

the spring that holds the tooth that catches the cogs when you push in the pedal is broken. without the spring the tooth doesn't catch thus not holding the brake engaged.
