Hello,Just recently purchased a 2000 National Surfside 31' with the GM 7.4l. When we drove this home after purchase (150miles) all the lights were working fine.Yesterday i put a new thermostat in and was going to take it for a ride when I noticed i had no parking/clearance/marker lights. Headlights,turn signals,hazards all work fine.Found the TAIL LPS (light) fuse to be blown and when I put a new fuse in it blows instantly when I turn the dash switch to on..My workhorse owners manual states that this fuse runs Headlamp switch,park switch and alarm indicator lamp,which I find interesting that it does not mention any of the lights that are not working. I am waiting on a set of workshop manuals to come via snail mail and thought I would post it on here in case someone would have some tips to look for or possibly a copy of the wiring diagram.Yesterday I removed the four main light housings in the rear and disconnected them at the plug,removed the 10 bulbs from the upper marker light,removed the 2 side marker bulbs and two front parking bulbs in the turn signal housing but had no luck finding the short and ran out of daylight.

Sorry your first post is about problems .

The fuse in question , may also provide power to the trailer plug wiring , so checking wiring inside the trailer plug, would probably be a spot to consider .

As with all electrical issues , pinpointing the problem takes 95% of the time .

To save fuses , wire a 12 volt test light across the fuse mount ;with all the bulbs removed ; light on you still have a short , light out you've found it.

Thanks Skip,I knew it would need quit a bit of work when I bought it,but the price was right. I am doing exactly as you mentioned with the test light after seeing a youtube vid with someone using a sealed headlight bulb. I just ordered cable tracer (toner) and hoping that will be a nice tool to have on hand for wiring issues. Hope to get a better grip on things once the workshop manuals arrive .
