2001 Holiday Rambler Endeavor Level Jack Hydraulic fluid levels
We recently purchased this 2001 Holiday Rambler Endeavor 36PWD and completely new to the Class A RV experience. On our second drive out and about, we noticed that the red light on the PowerGear 500731 manual touch pad would turn on as we were going down the road saying that a jack was down, along with the horrible beeping sound, indicating we were doing something wrong. I jumped out, checked all the jacks, and they were all fully retracted. The beeping and red light would turn off every now and then, but would turn back on if we hit even the smallest bump.
We have diagnosed that it might be low levels of hydraulic fluid, but we're having one heck of a time finding where the reservoir tank is located. The manual says its on the back right, but we found what we think is the reservoir in the back left side of the rig. See the picture attached, it has the directions to refill it. However, we cannot find the dip stick in order to check the level of the reservoir, along with how to fill it exactly. Where is the dip stick? Where can it be filled? How do we check the fluid levels? How much ATF should we use (I bought 4 quarts of Mercon V - is that enough)?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. We're trying to do this ourselves to learn and not give in by taking it to an RV shop. Many thanks and have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone! - Kierra & Shawn

The dip stick is on the end of the 1" cap as seen in the picture. Chances are the fluid level sensor is going bad and needs to be replaced. The replacement can be pricey and so on ours we simply unplugged the sensor and as always make sure the jacks are fully retracted before moving.

The "JACKS DOWN" alarm really isn't a jacks down alarm, its a low Hydraulic level alarm. The level sensor can be seen in your photo, its the thing with the red wires. When the jacks are fully retracted, all the fluid that was in the jacks is pushed back into the tank, and the tank should be full. Normally, if the fluid level is low, that means the jacks arn't fully retracted.
As 2008Seneca noted, the filling port is on the top / right in your photo. It may or may not have a dip stick. My tank is located up behind the front right wheel and its very difficult to get at to the fill port so I use a small hand pump to pump fluid into the tank at that port.
Mine calls for Dexron III, I use Valvoline ATF Synthetic (Dexron III compatible). This is the same ATF fluid I use in the transmission (4R100) and power steering systems, and all my cars. Its $18 a gallon at Walmart.
If you want to see whatthe tank and pump look like, take a peek at this article I wrote when I repaired the bearing in the pump motor.

I have a 2000 Holiday Rambler. Mine was located behind the left rear wheel. Just take off the nut, it won't take much to fill it. You will probably need a funnel with a flexible spout.
Same exact thing happened to me. This means on of he Jack's are leaking. At about $1100 per Jack to replace, I just fill mine about once a year, its a lot less expensive.
I fill, and keep checking level by sticking my finger in hole. If it gets too full don't worry you can pick out the excess with your finger.

Its says to use Dextron III. Mercon usually is used on Ford products. Do not know if Mercon is compatible with Dextron. Please check. Hi

Power Gear Sensor
I had the same problem when I went to pick my rig up from the mechanic shop. The alarm would go off and I would not try to drive it like that. I researched it on this website, and as usual, I found my answer. I unplugged mine and purchased a new sensor off of Amazon for $75. Simple to replace. Put the jacks down to lower the fluid level in the resevoir, remove the old sensor, replace, and plug the wires back in. Put the jacks back up and you should be good to go. Make sure you clean the outside of the resevoir any time you check the level or replace the sensor. Dirt is the enemy of the hydraulic system.

ok mine won't go back up. Trying to find where the reservoir is located is a PIA. We have a 2000 Georgie Boy Cruisemaster. I think we have a leaky leveler which is why the rear jack is stuck. We tried digging underneath it, putting a jack under the jack and pushing up. No dice. Can't find this problem on here, or maybe I am searching incorrectly? Vicky

You will need to give a little more info to get some help from these fine folks. Do you know what brand they are? The year of the coach, and which one on the coach will not go up? These folks will have answers soon for you on the location as well.

Make sure the jacks are retracted, open the cap and fill the reservoir until it overflows, wipe down the tank put the cap back on and you are good to go.
Here is a link to the manual if you don't have a copy. https://www.lci1.com/assets/content/...g_82_L0379.pdf

Well, I found that our Bigfoot levelers have individual reservoirs. Someone posted about taking a top and bottom line off it after my husband spent a whole afternoon under the rig on rocks! He found the bottom line but didn't find the top line until the next morning and, voila, the leveler retracted. We just tied it up and will have it fixed or whatever this summer in Colorado. A big PIA but now we know. Thanks for all the help. Love this forum
