2001 winnebago ultimate advantage

Just purchased a used 2001 Winnebago Ultimate Advantage 40J. I noticed the entire dash panel appears to lift up. Is this normal or are there clamps or screws missing? I am hoping this is just an easy access to get to gauges etc. Anyone have any idea? It tilts up approximately 3-4 inches. Thanks

2000 40j

Our 40J doesn't have this as our dash is tight, It's a 2000 40J that we purchased one year ago off of ebay.

Just for info what did you pay for the 2001.

Yes, the dash (the raised portion with the gauges, etc) is designed to hinge upward for access to wiring, etc. This is very typical of diesel pushers. I would bet the 2000 UA does also (not sure what you mean by "our dash is tight") ...it can be a bit tricky to pull it at the right angle to come up, but it most likely will.

i have a 2003 Winnebago Brave and it also has a dash that tips up. Mine will raise about 12 inches and is very handy to get at the wireing. i carry a short wooden prop to put under it when i need access as it is hard to hold it up and work on anything.

Our dash tilts up and forward too. Ours is a 40J too.
You're really going to like the UA
