2003 allegro bus 40TGP

Looking at 2003 allegro bus 40tgp with 36,000 miles-the unit is immaculate inside. This unit appears to have all the factory options. My bride and I are concerned about purchasing a unit of this age even thought it has the floorplan and options we are looking for. Does anyone have experience with this model year? Any experience with resale of older units? We are new at motorhomes, have a fifth wheel, and appreciate any info, thankyou

1. The engine and trans are the rock side of a motorhome.
2. I would have it checked out by a person that knows what to look for in a motorhome.

Condition of
Breaks,
Air Bags
Generator
Air Cond
It is nice to have the service records
Age of tires

How many owners?

My wife and I purchased a Tiffin 2003 Allegro Bay 37 ft motorhome (gas) 7 months ago and have not been disappointed - we too, had a fifth wheel for 11 years. The interior was in excellent condition & the floor plan was exactly what we desired. The exterior had slight fading but with a little elbow grease & tender loving care, it's looks great! The only previous owner maintained the unit very well but never had the brake recall done. Since purchasing our motorhome we have completed the brake recall, engine tune up, generator checked, tires, etc and we are enjoying it! We wish you the best!

I wouldn't be too worried about the age so much as I would be the overall care that was given to it. Since you do have RV experience(5th wheel) take a careful look at all components, and try everything to be sure there's no surprises. If it's on a Spartan chassis have the ball joints checked, I believe that was one of the problem years, as a matter of fact you didn't mention which engine it has. If you can, get it to a Cummins or Cat repair place and have them look it over for you. A few bucks now can save a lot of headaches later. We purchased a 2000 Dutch Star diesel 3yrs. ago and have been full timing ever since. I had an RV tech look it over from top to bottom, and Cummins do a complete diagnostic. Plus I got all the service records from the previous owner. If it all checks out...I say go for it!!!
