2003 Fleetwood Revolution diesel pusher
Looking at buying a 2003 fleetwood revolution 40C and noticed that the fuel low warning light is on and also generator will not start. I know that there is an interlock for low fuel that keeps generator from running but I would like to know what I need to do to jump this out to verify generator operation. Is this possible? Thanks

Generator fuel supply
The generator and usually if equipped Deisel fired heaters are actually tapped to leave about 1/4 tank remaining for the engine.it is not an electrical interlock. Get the seller to add fuel.

Easiest thing to do is put fuel in, but with the low warning fuel light on I'd be concerned about even driving it unless you are close to a station.
I have 128 gallon fuel tank, generator stops running after 100 gallons consumed. Depending on where I am I sometimes stretch my drive to that 100 gallon limit, I used a Silverleaf VMSpc monitor which is very accurate.
My fuel gauge quit working, it was a Centroid unit, replaced with a Holley Easy Level.
Nice to have two methods for fuel level.

If the generator isn't cranking over, it's not the low fuel.
If its cranking, and you can get to the fuel line, a few gallons of diesel in a container and a peice of line between them will get it running.

As others have said, it's a mechanical limit of the generator fuel tap into the tank and NOT an electronic interlock. The only way to bypass is to physically provide more fuel somehow.

Thank you sir, do appreciate it. I’ll definitely check that out. Would be pretty funny if the person selling the RV just needed to add gas. Gauge is showing empty and indicator light is on. Salesperson says it started with starting fluid but before I buy would like to know I’m not buying someone else’s problems

Salesperson says it started with starting fluid
The salesperson actually did this or saw it done???? Wow, not all that smart was/is he? Starting fluid is primarily NOT to be used for starting diesels. There's a whole bunch of potential issues that can arise from that action.
Anyway, as to your problem, yep, the pickup in the tank for the generator is typically at a higher point so when you get to a certain level of fuel, that pickup be able to pick up any fuel from that point on. The remaining fuel is to be used for the coach to be able keep going and at some time, to get to a fuel station. Once the fuel tank is filled, that pickup for the gen will now be able to extract fuel again for the gen.

Definitely get them to fuel it and start the generator, I have replaced a lot of lifter push rods over the years caused by people using starter fluid in small diesel engines.
A well run shop would never let a sales person any where near a can of starter fluid !!

Anything used for sale has one thing in common, the current owner no longer wants it! As a potential buyer you need to find the reason(s) why. Sitting on a dealer's lot is this a trade or is it here on consignment? Having it presented for sale without fuel all by itself raises a lot of flags. How long has it been there and what level of care is there while sitting on the lot. My bet the auto generator start was left on, and it ran itself dry. As for risk, it's a 2003. Probably built in 2002. This is a 22 -ear old coach. Do you regularly drive and rely on a 22-year-old car? Low mileage is not always a good thing. Could you consider buying this value of coach new? If you can't afford it new, you may difficulty supporting it used, especially this old. You will need some combination of luck and the ability to source parts and do it yourself for this to work, or even make sense. As for risk, what would you be able to do in the event of an engine or transmission failure? How about when a slide out room needs to be pulled out for repair. The purchase could just be the down payment. The revolution is a dressed up, still value focused Fleetwood. Value it accordingly.
